0-0 And Now It’s A Best of 3
After another heartbreaking loss by one behind a late midrange jumper by CJ McCollum, the Knicks bounce back and tie the series at 2-2 going back to the New York for Game Five.
Game 3 Breakdown

First Half:
Before the series started, Game Three was the game you foreseen the Knicks dropping for sure. However, dropping a home game made it more important than it had to be, and the Knicks definitely disappointed.
The Hawks came out rolling in this one. It seemed like they couldn’t miss a shot if they tried. Jalen Johnson, CJ McCollum, and Jonathan Kuminga combined for 24 points in the first quarter.
On the opposite side, the Knicks were terribly flat. Jalen Brunson (11) and OG Anunoby (10) were the only two Knicks to score in the first quarter.
It got even worse for New York in the second quarter, where they found they found themselves down as much as 18 points. The Hawks cooled off, but CJ kept his foot on the gas with 9 more.
They fought back to cut the deficit to 8 (58-50) before halftime behind a balance attack led by Karl-Anthony Towns, who had 8 point, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, a block and steal in the second.

Second Half:
Brunson, Anunoby, and Towns played heavy minutes in the third to keep the game close after the Hawks were able to balloon their lead back up over double digits.
They were the only three Knicks to score in the quarter directly in contrast with the Hawks approach that had 6 different players contribute, and they finally saw Nickeil Alexander-Walker get hot with 11.
They ended the third trading baskets and the deficit was still 8 heading into the fourth.
In the fourth quarter it appeared as if the Hawks would start to pull away when they got the lead back to 11, but the Knicks fought back to tie and then eventually take a 3 point lead behind a Brunson and-one 7 foot floater (108-105).
To me, the pivotal play was the next when Johnson is blocked at the rim by KAT. However, the ball falls right back into his hands and he lays it up cutting it to 1 with 52 seconds left.
The Knicks get two tried at it and then turn it over. The Hawks call time to draw a play up and it took 4 seconds for McCollum to call game! The Knicks try the same, but it ends in a turnover by Captain Clutch. Ball game. Heartbreak 2x.

Game 4 Breakdown

First Half:
The exact desperation and team play we saw from the Knicks in Game 4 is what the Knicks will need to close this series. It was the tale of two teams. They looked like a different club.
New York led for 45 minutes and 19 seconds of the the 48. Wire-to-wire response to those back to back 1 point losses.
The Knicks came out with fire and desire on the defensive end and moved the ball like a team, which led to 6 different Knicks scoring in the first and a 7 point lead by the quarter’s end.
Josh Hart was able to establish himself in the second with 9 points and Jose Alvarado injected much need fire and energy into this game.
CJ McCollum was able to continue his brilliance with 10 in the second period, but the Knicks were able to run the lead up to as much 16 before it settling at 58-44 at halftime.

Second Half:
The rest of the game can be summed up with the dominance of the Knicks playing through Karl-Anthony Towns, and the finishing ability of OG Anunoby.
The Knicks found a lot of success with KAT working at the top of the key as a hub for playmaking, Jalen Brunson screening for OG so that Jalen will curl and OG will backdoor to the rim.
The Knicks were able to get a tremendous amount of looks off that action, which resulted in many OG dunks and 10 assists from KAT on the game.
The third quarter was where the Knicks were able to pull away on the back of KAT’s 9 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists making it 86-65.
The final quarter was a formality, and the Hawks had no runs in them left. It was a beautiful sight for Knicks fans to get a comfortable win, and have Tyler Kolek, Mohamed Diawara, and Ariel Hukporti play almost 4 minutes.
Now with the series tied and the momentum swinging back in the Knicks favor before returning home Tuesday, April 28th, Game 5 has all the makings of a must! must! must! win.
My prediction is that winner of Game 5 will go on to win the series, and let us hope it is the New York Knicks.
